PBLabs is kicking off the year with a new edition inviting Colin Pantall as special guest. For this edition we would like to recover our original format and create a small group of people to discuss and share photobooks.

Part I. The Theatre of Photobooks

Colin will share his passion about this medium gathering a selection of photobooks that have interesting book mechanics (unusual book structures, pages folding, hand-outs…). During this session we’ll look at a wide range of possibilities within the physical dynamics of a photobook.

Colin Pantall is a writer and photographer whose work focuses on childhood and the mythologies of family identity. He has written for newspapers and magazines in Europe, Asia and North America. He is a contributing writer to the British Journal of Photography and writes for Photo Eye Magazine and Photography and Culture. Colin’s photography has been widely published and exhibited in shows at the National Portrait Gallery, The Lowry Centre as well as shown in Italy, France and Holland.

His blog is a reference, find out more about it HERE

Part II. Books on the table

Is there a photobook that shakes your mind that you would like to share with us? Fill your bag with your favourite gem and come to this event. If you are also working in a photobook/zine, please feel free to bring it along and get some feedback.
